![]() ![]() I say pontifex might be interested because of this thread. Grand Ages: Rome is due in Feb '09, while Anno 1404 is due in March '09. You can see the graphics look really nice in some areas.and other areas not so much.īut it's a step in the right direction, and I'm hoping these are beta shots that'll get fixed, but I doubt it. Its one of the most beautiful games in the genre until this day, runs like butter on modern systems. Before starting a game, the player must create a character by choosing their family, name, gender and portrait. It was originally designed as a sequel to 2008s Imperium Romanum. Its got an Age of Sail setting, where youll colonize an uninhabited island(s) and build a growing city, do trade with other cultures. Grand Ages: Rome is a historical city-building strategy game by Bulgarian developers Haemimont Games and released on March 17th, 2009. Released in 2009, its a city builder much like GA:Rome. The developer this time around has promised a more indepth campaing, they have revamped their graphics engine, and promised standard RTS squad control as well as more combat in general. Anno 1404 aka Dawn of Discovery is a genre great. Grand Ages: Rome was formerly known as Imperium Romanum II, which is a sequal to Imperium Romanum and Glory of the Roman Empire. ![]() Not much else has been released on the game, but the developers said they're also working on a revamped combat system. The main premise is to raise a medieval city, build it up, and then sail across the sea and search for the Orient, wherein you build another city that's more oriental in style, and you harness the technology there to use for your own city. I decided to make one thread about these two games, because both are city builders, but both have a significant amount of RTS style combat involved, and I'm hoping both turn out to be very good.įrom the developers of the Anno series, last project was Anno 1701 ![]()
